The Art of the Altar ~ a dye workshop for creating sacred space

Please join Kalen and Heidi-

Saturday, October 21st

1-3pm EST

Cost: $150

10% of proceeds will go towards the NRDC

An altar is a sacred space of intention and co-creation. It can serve as a container for creative or spiritual work, and attending to our altar influences the energy and the efficacy of our practices. The more you charge and ground the energy in your altar area, the more you can feel and trust it, and the more this energy can be transmitted into the world.

This will be an in-person, experiential workshop held at Kalen’s Upstate Studio in Chinatown. We will circle together around a group altar, and after a short, guided grounding and meditation, we will discuss the basics of creating a sacred space for co-creation, healing, and change. There will be a brief lecture on the traditional and ceremonial uses of the plants as well as the energetics of colors. Each participant will create their own altar cloth with natural plant dyes.

This class is for you if you are curious about how to integrate an altar into your spiritual or creative practice. This class is also for you if you have an established spiritual or creative practice and are looking for additional refinement and inspiration in your altar work. We will work with an assortment of different plant-based dyes, and no previous experience is needed.

Participants are welcome to bring one or two small-to-medium-sized items to dye along with the cloth.

Sign up here.

About my co-collaborator:

Kalen Kaminski is an artist, designer and prop stylist  living in NYC. Her brand Upstate is a clothing, textile, and glassware line, as well as creative studio. Often drawing from the palettes, landscapes and visual cultures encountered in her global travels from locales ranging from Oaxaca, Mexico to Puglia, Italy to the verdant countryside of the Berkshires, Kalen synthesizes these various influences and marries them with her own unfettered, modern sensibility creating an aesthetic both time-honored and completely of the moment. Spurred by a passion for experimentation and exploration in hand-dyeing techniques Kalen’s ethos embraces singularity, kineticism, and exuberance in both design and life.

Breaking the Spell - Healing Codependency

Breaking the Spell // Healing Codependency ~ class offering with my sisterwitch colleague, Deborah Bagg 🥀⛓🥀

Spells can manifest internally as self-limiting beliefs, or externally as maladaptive relational patterns. When a negative spell is broken, we can be set free from harmful binds and unlock a fuller expression of ourselves.

Codependence is a pattern of needing to be controlled and/or needing to control a relationship in order to feel safe. Oftentimes, on the path of healing ourselves, we must confront relationships and patterns that have locked us in a spell of unhealthy connection. Many of these patterns are multigenerational and reinforced by the larger culture as healthy, when in fact, are quite harmful. More discernment may be needed to free oneself from dynamics that are keeping you blocked from accessing greater peace and potential within yourself, and in the world.

In this class, we will look at:
● The main features of codependence
○ How complex trauma and codependence are correlated
● How to know the difference between harm and love in a relationship
○ How we are conditioned to internalize self-limiting beliefs
● How to break both interpersonal and internal spells with the help of prayer, somatic practice, and the plant kingdom

If you’re curious to learn more about where harmful spells may be showing up in your life and how to clear them, please join us ~

Foundations of Flower Essences

Save the dates! I’m thrilled to announce my upcoming FOUNDATIONS of FLOWER ESSENCES series in partnership with Flower Power! 🌸🌺🌸 This cosmic curriculum is many years in the making and I’m excited to welcome all those who feel called to study this medicine with me. This remote immersion will be structured as follows:

four months (+ optional in-person plant walk and one bonus class on complex trauma)
one Saturday/month (May 21st, June 18th, July 16th, September 17th, and October 15th)
one 60-min personal consultation
10am – 12pm EST

Together we will cover: the history of flower essences, theory of vibrational medicine, doctrine of signature, clinical application, ethical wildcrafting, prayer and ritual work, and the efficacy of flower essences in complex trauma recovery. Each session will feature: a grounding, lecture, and community Q & A. With plenty of time in-between meeting, assignments will be comprised of readings, writings, and experiential activities.

This curriculum is appropriate for anyone in the beginning stages of studying flower essences who is curious to learn about how to use flower essences in a personal practice. This curriculum IS NOT a practitioner training, rather it can serve as a precursor to more formal FE studies, a complement to existing FE or related herbal medicine training, or as a way to expand one’s understanding of FEs through another perspective.

We will utilize a range of texts on herbal, vibrational, and flower essence medicine, with an emphasis on my book, The Bloom Book: A Flower Essence Guide to Cosmic Balance.

The cost is $450. We are happy to offer two sliding scale spots for anyone who lacks funds with priority given to BIPOC. The cost includes the price of the book, which every participant will receive. You will also be expected to purchase a minimum of 3-5 flower essences for experiential purposes.

Sign-up info coming to you shortly. Feel free to email with any questions in the meantime. 🌼🌼🌼

The Language of Healing: Flower Essences and Prayer

Prayer is much more than a passive practice, it can be an active agreement that you make with your soul and the Divine/Spirit/the Universe, etc. Flower essences are a type of vibrational plant medicine that work at subtle yet powerful levels of intention, ritual, and prayer. Flower essences are not essential oils; they are odorless and can be safely and effectively applied in a variety of ways. In my practice, I help my clients bring about healing and change in their lives by combining intentional language with the flowers. Challenging psychosomatic symptoms like intrusive thoughts, negative states, or existential despair can be addressed by looking at the beliefs underlying these symptoms, and reframing the language connected to them.

In this class, we will explore the role of prayer in your flower essence work to access states of healing, change, and grace. Each participant will leave with a flower essence and self-authored prayer to continue their own exploration.

This event is in-person only.

Winter Solstice Flower Circle

As the light outside wanes in the northern hemisphere, the hearth is warmed and we tend to our inner light. While modern life can pull us further away from natural order, the quarter days (solstices and equinoxes) encourage a greater connection to the wheel of the year and seasonal transitions. In Northern European Indigenous traditions, plants of wintertime were often evergreen, signifying eternality and protection. Plant allies during this time served both ceremonial and practical purposes, e.g., burning cedar root in the house for protection, and drinking pine needle tea for immune health.

Flower essences are a type of plant spirit medicine that facilitate healing, connection, integration, and balance. They are safe and gentle yet powerful shifters of consciousness, and this circle will highlight several essences and plants that correspond to the energetics of winter and the solstice. Each participant will leave with a custom flower blend to help guide them through the winter solstice and holiday season. We will connect with the flowers through a candlelit guided plant spirit ritual and meditation.

Resourced for Resilience: Prayer, Ritual, and Flower Essences

StormySkyBright.jpg

Flower essences are a type of plant and vibrational medicine that assist us on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels, often resulting in shifts in consciousness. They are subtle medicine that work dynamically with both the physical and energetic systems of the body to sustain and build the vital life force of our whole being. Resilience is an elevated response to stress and trauma, and flower essences are well-attuned to assist us in accessing our resilience during times that require much from us. Language is the agreement we make with our life situations, and intentional prayer and ritual are powerful complements in flower essence work to co-create deeper opportunities for resonance and healing.

In this class we will cover:

Accessing and cultivating resilience
Restoring vital energy within the body
Reorienting the self from trauma to wholeness
The relationship between affirmative language, co-creation, and being states
Prayers and rituals for individual, collective, and planetary healing
